Security
The safest data is the data we never take. HourSign is built to hold as little about your clients as possible, which is none of it.
Never put a client name in HourSign.
Not in a note, not in a site name, not in an email to us. There is no field for it and we do
not want it.
What we hold, and what we refuse to.
What we hold
- Your name, your email and your license track.
- Dates, minutes, hour category, setting and which supervisor was involved.
- Reporting periods, and what your supervisor signed.
- A record of emails we sent you and when you signed in.
What we do not hold
- Client names, initials, case numbers or any other client identifier.
- Session notes, diagnoses or treatment content.
- Card numbers. The payment page is run by the payment provider, not by us.
So HourSign is not a health record, and the hours you log are not protected health information.
It is a record of your own working time. We still treat it as private.

Encrypted in transit
Everything travels over HTTPS. There is no unencrypted way in.
Backed up every day
The database is backed up every day, and we practise restoring from a backup.
We never see your password
Sign-in is handled by a specialist provider.
Signed means locked
A signed reporting period is locked and hashed, so a later edit is visible as a change.
Supervisors see only what you send
A supervisor only ever sees the practitioners who asked them for a signature, and only the
periods they were sent.
Your data is yours.
Export at any time
As CSV and PDF. Free, on every plan, including after a plan ends. You never have to pay to
get your own record out.
Deleted when you ask
Ask us to delete your account and we delete it. Signed records belonging to a supervisor's own
copy are kept only where a board rule requires it, and we will tell you exactly what is kept
and why.
If you find a problem.
Tell us what you found and how to repeat it. We will reply, fix it, and say what we changed. Please do not include anyone else's data in the report.
A record you can trust, holding nothing you should not.
Log free, forever. Your first signed period is free too. Supervisors never pay.
